CARLOS ALCARAZ VS BOTIC VAN DE ZANDSCHULP PREDICTION
Carlos Alcaraz was far from his best in his win over Li Tu in the first round but the Spaniard will know he has time on his side to get fully up to speed in this opening week of the US Open.
He now meets Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp who he has met on two previous occasions and he has won both of those meetings without dropping a set.
Van de Zandschulp stunned Denis Shapovalov on Tuesday night in straight sets as an underdog and it was nothing less than the 28-year-old deserved. It has to be said however that Shapovalov is currently in miserable form and this will be a completely different task.
Alcaraz is not at his best but he is still playing at a high level. His return game especially was strong against Li Tu as he created 19 break points and that will likely carry him through this match also. Expect him to ramp things up a little and close this one out in straight sets.
