BRANDON NAKASHIMA VS UGO HUMBERT PREDICTION

Brandon Nakashima comes into this match with good confidence after he beat compatriot Frances Tiafoe in straight sets in the first round. The 23-year-old is in a good run of form right now after he won all three matches in the Davis Cup against reasonable opponents and then made it to the semis in Hangzhou last week.

He now faces Frenchman Ugo Humbert who beat him at Wimbledon in four sets back in July. That scoreline does not tell the entire story as it was an incredibly close match with little separating the two but it was Humbert who edged it 7-6 6-3 6-7 7-6 as three sets went to a tiebreak.

Humbert hammered Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki in the first round dropping just three games but this will be a totally different kind of match. Nakashima’s defensive play will test Humbert here and this is the kind of match we can see going three sets.

We have a marginal preference for Nakashima but with limited confidence, and we favour over 21.5 games in this one.
