THE PREDICTION

This is a really tough call between two players desperately seeking form on tour. Former world number 10 Denis Shapovalov brings a four-match losing streak into Indian Wells as he attempts to come back from a break from the sport. The Canadian is currently ranked outside the top 130 after ending his season early at Wimbledon last summer and one win from seven this year does not bode well for his chance against Botic van de Zandschulp, who has at least shown some life in recent weeks. The 28-year-old set a career-high of 22nd in 2022 after an excellent two years on tour but losing back-to-back Munich Open finals, both times to Holger Rune, looks to have taken its toll on his confidence on court. Van de Zandschulp snapped his own four-match losing streak last time out in Dubai to bring the better form here so back the Dutchman to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.

TIP: BOTIC VAN DE ZANDSCHULP TO WIN A SET
