BORNA CORIC VS FRANCES TIAFOE PREDICTION
Borna Coric eased through his first round match against Felipe Alves in straight sets to set up this clash with American Frances Tiafoe. Coric still has plenty of improvement to make despite the comfortable win as his first serve percentage was just 58% but he had the edge on win percentages on both first and second serves and he had just too much quality for Alves. He will know he has to improve his game against Tiafoe here.
Tiafoe enjoyed something of a rollercoaster in his first round match against Matteo Arnaldi which pushed him to his limits. After losing the first two sets due to a sluggish start, Tiafoe went on to win the next three sets losing a grand total of just six games across the three to progress. He too will know he cannot start so poorly against Coric here and he will have to improve his win percentage on both first and second serve which was just 50% and 49% respectively against Arnaldi.
The inconsistency of both players and their different strengths should make for an enthralling match. Tiafoe is the favourite to win but he has some major improvements to make. The favoured play here is on the number of sets and expected over 3.5 here.
