BERNARDA PERA VS JELENA OSTAPENKO PREDICTION
After losing in the first round of Wimbledon in her previous five attempts, Bernarda Pera has gone two better this time around after seeing off Anastasia Potapova and most notably 23rd seed Caroline Garcia in London this week, and her reward is a meeting with former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko.
Ostapenko has barely been troubled so far, dropping just six games in routine victories over Ajla Tomljanovic and Daria Snigur. The Latvian’s serve has been particularly effective so far, with 19 aces coming the way of the 27-year-old over the course of her two victories.
Given her early exits in both Birmingham and Eastbourne in the lead-up to Wimbledon, there wasn’t a great deal of expectation on former semi-finalist Ostapenko, but she has stepped up her game this week and can be fancied to overcome what is likely to be a stubborn opponent in Pera.
