BEN SHELTON VS TOMAS MARTIN ETCHEVERRY PREDICTION
Ben Shelton was delighted with his first round win over the monstrous serving Reilly Opelka. He edged past his compatriot on tiebreaks in both sets as he managed to break a serve or two in the tiebreak to win 7-6 7-6.
The performance was particularly impressive as much for his own serve as he was able to maintain a high level on his own serve and then break at the right time.
He now faces a different challenge in Tomas Martin Etcheverry who comes off an excellent win on Wednesday evening against Matteo Arnaldi. The Argentine just had the edge at the key moments to win three sets and it will be interesting to see how these two players now measure up.
Shelton has an excellent serve and Etcheverry will have to handle that if he is to have any chance of progressing. We just prefer Shelton’s experience and quality on hard courts in this one and he has just enough athleticism to measure up with Etcheverry in that department too.
