BEN SHELTON VS ROBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT PREDICTION
Ben Shelton was in strong form in the first round as he eased to victory in straight sets against veteran Dominic Thiem. The 21-year-old continues to look sharp and that early win will have only served to boost his confidence further.
He meets another veteran in the second round as he will meet Roberto Bautista Agut. The 36-year-old Spaniard has played Shelton once before at the Australian Open at the start of this year and Shelton ran out 6-2 7-6 7-5 winner.
Bautista Agut will be eager to reverse that and he did well in the first round in beating Italian Luca Nardi in straight sets himself. He won an impressive 100% of his second serves and that was arguably the defining part of the match. He did however serve 12 double faults and he will not be able to do that against Shelton and not be punished.
Shelton is on fire right now and it is hard to make a case for Bautista Agut. He could edge a set but over the longer format, Shelton should simply be too powerful and athletic for him.
