BEN SHELTON VS DOMINIC THIEM PREDICTION

Ben Shelton will be hoping to repeat last year’s fantastic performances at the US Open after he surprised many to reach the semi-finals. The talented 21-year-old continues to impress and he comes into this event in fine form having reached the quarters in Cincinnati last week.

Shelton is currently at a career high number 13 in the world and he will be fired up to put in another outstanding display starting here.

He faces veteran Dominic Thiem who is reportedly planning to retire after the ATP Tour event in October in his native Austria. The 30-year-old has struggled to rekindle his old self and injuries have continued to blight him.

While the 2020 champion has fond memories from this venue, it is hard to make a case for him competing here. Shelton should have far too much for him in all areas of the game and a comprehensive win is on the cards. Unless Shelton eases off the gas at some point, this could be straight sets.
