ANDREY RUBLEV VS BEN SHELTON PREDICTION
It has been relatively plain sailing for Andrey Rublev in Basel so far as he has eased to two straight-set wins over Nuno Borges and then Alejandro Tabilo.
He now faces a completely different type of opponent stylistically in Ben Shelton and it will be interesting to see how Rublev adjusts to that.
The pair have never crossed paths before which is somewhat surprising given how active both have been in 2024.
Shelton has been pretty comfortable himself in his two wins so far as he has yet to drop a set against either Tomas Etcheverry or Stan Wawrinka. Rublev will be a different type of challenge for him too.
So much in this match will come down to the real fine margins of the game and likely who makes the least unforced errors. We like Andrey Rublev’s chances in this one. Stan Wawrinka created five break points on Shelton’s serve while Shelton only created one on Wawrinka’s and took it. Shelton did very well at producing a big effort at key times to avoid being broken but Rublev should have more success and that leans us towards the Russian.
