ANCA TODONI VS COCO GAUFF PREDICTION
Having come through three rounds of qualifying, 19-year-old Anca Todoni rose to the occasion on her Grand Slam debut as she saw off lucky loser Olga Danilovic in straight sets on Monday. The Romanian’s reward is a draw against world number two Coco Gauff in what will undoubtedly be the biggest match of her young career.
Indeed, Gauff was actually born in the same year as her opponent, but it feels like the American has been around for some time now, such was the tender age she burst onto the scene at Wimbledon in 2019. She has since been unable to surpass that fourth-round run, but having reached the semi-finals of both the Australian Open and the French Open this year, the signs look good for the 20-year-old.
Todoni has nothing to lose here and is a massive underdog, and she will be aware that grass has typically been Gauff’s weakest surface. However, Gauff looked dominant in her opening round win over compatriot Caroline Dolehide, and another straight-sets win looks on the cards here.
