ANASTASIA PAVLYUCHENKOVA VS PAULA BADOSA PREDICTION
It’s a first WTA quarter-final since the San Diego Open back in March for Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, and she will now bid for what would be just a second WTA 1000 semi-final in over three years. The Russian eliminated seventh seed Qinwen Zheng in the round of 16 here in Cincinnati, winning 82% of points on her first serve in the process.
Paula Badosa – a former world number two – is heading in the right direction in the rankings and has looked a formidable opponent so far in Cincinnati. The Spaniard, winner of the Citi Open at the beginning of the month, hasn’t dropped a set in her three matches in the event.
There is a clear favourite here, with Badosa having arguably been the most impressive player in the tournament to date. If she can maintain that level, another straight-sets win for the 26-year-old beckons.
