THE PREDICTION

27-year-old Katie Boulter will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of 45th after a brilliant opener over Jasmine Paolini on Monday. The Brit won her maiden WTA title at the Nottingham Open last summer but she is better-suited to hardcourt conditions, with the next few weeks looking very encouraging on tour. Former world number 11 Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova should be too steep of a challenge in their first meeting but it could come closer than some expect, with Boulter certainly capable of finding another level from her tidy game. 32-year-old Pavlyuchenkova also blasted past an Italian on Monday with a consummate victory over Martina Trevisan and her recent run to the quarter-finals in Adelaide saw impressive results over Beatriz Haddad-Maia and Katerina Siniakova to suggest she is in a strong moment on tour. Three sets seem likelier than two but Pavlyuchenkova should be able to edge through here.

TIP: ANASTASIA PAVLYUCHENKOVA TO WIN
