A straight-sets victory over Panna Udvardy on Monday snapped a surprising three-match losing streak coming into Paris but she should be considered a serious threat to the second week at least here and the solid favourite in this second round clash.
World number 64 Ana Bogdan conceded just four games to Elsa Jacquemot on Monday and she took Marketa Vondrousova, another Roland-Garros runner-up, to three sets before defeat at the Italian Open earlier this month. The Romanian is at her best on clay but she has lost both previous meetings with Pavlyuchenkova comfortably to suggest backing the Russian to win in straight sets is a reasonable risk.
