The 33-year-old had hinted at retiring from the sport this summer at Roland-Garros but she looks to have focused on taking on the grass swing for now, on which she excelled at Wimbledon last year. 22-year-old Elizabeth Mandlik will break the top 100 on tour for the first time after an excellent three-set victory over Camila Giorgi on Thursday. The American has battled hard this week from qualifying through to the quarter-finals but Cornet’s victory over Sakkari is by far the most impressive result of the week. Mandlik is well capable of the upset here, as Cornet is one of the more erratic performers on tour, but backing the Frenchwoman to edge through outright feels a reasonable call.
