THE PREDICTION
World number 53 Alison Riske won the third WTA title of her career at the Linz Open late last season and she brought that form into 2022 with a runner-up finish to Madison Keys at the Adelaide International. The 31-year-old is riding a three-match losing streak since a second round defeat at the Australian Open to Jelena Ostapenko but she looks the solid favourite to come through here against Caty McNally, who last won a tour-level match last August. World number 172 McNally has qualified well for the main draw here but she has far greater stock in the Women’s Doubles draw alongside friend and compatriot Coco Gauff as the third seeds. Take Riske to win outright for a suitably cautious option considering her recent form, although she should be taking this in two in normal service.
