World number 81 Alexei Popyrin grabbed an excellent straight-sets result over in-form Tallon Griekspoor on Monday to back-up a solid showing at the Monte-Carlo Masters last week. The 23-year-old endured the worst season of his career last year to fall outside the top 100 but it should not take long for him to move back inside the top 60 if he can maintain a steady presence on tour. World number 73 Alex Molcan started this season in very poor form but a comeback over Taro Daniel on Monday was an encouraging result. The Slovak is probably at his best on clay, on which he has reached three finals at ATP 250 level over the last two seasons, and he will certainly be the more comfortable-looking on court in this first meeting between the two. Neither player brings a whole heap of confidence with them but back Molcan to earn at least a set as the more attuned to clay.
