THE PREDICTION

Former world number two Alexander Zverev won each of his first five matches against Andrey Rublev but the Russian has claimed both of their encounters this season to pull back to 5-2 in their head-to-head. World number five Rublev has looked assured so far in Vienna with two straight-set results over Alexei Popyrin and Matteo Arnaldi but this will be his toughest match by some distance and almost certainly his toughest against Zverev this season. World number 10 Zverev recently picked up his 21st ATP title at the Chengdu Open but he snapped a three-match losing streak on Monday with victory over Sebastian Ofner before a consummate result over out-of-sorts Cam Norrie.

Rublev finished runner-up to Hubert Hurkacz at the Shanghai Masters and if Zverev can maintain his serving numbers from his match on Wednesday the Russian should struggle to find answers. All seven of their encounters have fallen in straight sets to suggest taking Zverev to earn at least a set is about as reasonable a call as taking the German to come through outright. Alternatively, take the two-sets option to leave the result totally up to chance.

BETTING TIP: Total of two sets.
