ALEXANDER SHEVCHENKO VS FRANCISCO CERUNDOLO PREDICTION

Alexander Shevchenko is fired up to do well in his home event and the 23-year-old has looked solid in his opening two victories so far. He first beat Mikhail Kukushkin in straight sets and then edged a three-setter against Aslan Karatsev.

He now faces Francisco Cerundolo just less than two weeks since they met in Shanghai. It was Shevchenko who won that match 7-6 7-5 and that will give him huge confidence coming into this clash.

Cerundolo is ranked number four in Almaty this week and the Argentine came through his opening match beating Justin Engel 6-4 7-6. His form in recent weeks has been pretty mediocre and there is little to choose between the two players coming into this match.

Our preference is with Shevchenko to upset the odds and progress here. His form is solid and he will have that extra motivation to do well. The fact he beat Cerundolo in Shanghai will also give him the edge along with any potential support and we favour him to reach the semis.
