THE PREDICTION

This could be a proper thriller on Friday if world number five Andrey Rublev brings his fearless best to face number 23 Alexander Bublik’s fierce serving. The pair shared a really entertaining five-setter last summer at Wimbledon, where Rublev ended Bublik’s 10-match winning streak, but the Russian had been part of that streak two weeks prior when Bublik beat him to the Halle Open title. Both players reached the semi-finals via late retirements on Thursday, with Rublev outlasting Sebastian Korda and Jiri Lehecka pulling up injured in his match with Bublik, and both also came back from a set down to survive early scares in the first round to suggest this could be a close-run contest. Rublev leads their tour-level head-to-head 4-1 but four of those five previous meetings saw sets go both ways to suggest this could do the same. Consider taking the match to see three sets here, with a tiebreak also reasonably likely, but the suitably cautious option is backing Rublev to win at least a set -as he has in all five of their encounters.

TIP: ANDREY RUBLEV TO WIN A SET
