ALEX DE MINAUR VS NOVAK DJOKOVIC PREDICTION

Alex de Minaur is undoubtedly playing some of the best tennis of his career right now, although the Australian’s route to a second successive Grand Slam quarter-final has not been without its fortune. The 25-year-old is yet to face a seed at SW19 this year, and received a walkover in the third round due to Lucas Pouille’s withdrawal. Be that as it may, he delivered a fine performance in a four-set victory over Arthur Fils in the round of 16.

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic had his usual back and forth with the Centre Court crowd in Monday’s round of 16 clash with Holger Rune, but it did not deter the 37-year-old from cruising to a fairly comfortable three-set win over the Dane.

The pair’s only previous Grand Slam meeting resulted in a dominant 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 victory for Djokovic at last year’s Australian Open, but De Minaur does have a win over the Serb in 2024 when he prevailed in the United Cup in early January.

Djokovic has dropped a set against two opponents at Wimbledon this year, and it would be no surprise for him to lose one here against an opponent of the quality of De Minaur. However, as he so often does, the 24-time Grand Slam champion is likely to find a way to win, even if his mighty powers are on the wane ever so slightly.
