ALEX DE MINAUR VS JORDAN THOMPSON PREDICTION

Alex de Minaur is coming off a 6-3 6-7 6-0 6-0 win over Dan Evans in the third round but fair play to the Brit who battled on with physical issues rather than withdraw from that match when he was clearly struggling.

The number 10 seed is growing by the round and looks to be fit himself after various injury concerns in recent months. He will have welcomed that relatively third-round match especially before a tough test like this against his compatriot Jordan Thompson.

The pair have met five times before and it is De Minaur who is leading the head-to-head having won four of those meetings. The last came in Miami back in 2022 but Thompson is arguably in the best form of his career so far so he will not pay too much attention to that record.

Thompson is going from strength to strength right now and has been seriously impressive in his wins over Lestienne, Hurkacz and then Matteo Arnaldi last time out.

He is yet to drop a set and he is also flying in the doubles with his partner Max Purcell. His physical condition would be the only concern as he plays the doubles too but he is flying with confidence right now and he will not factor in fatigue when he is winning so well at the moment.

De Minaur is the big favourite for this match but the clear value lies with Thompson. He should not be underestimated especially when De Minaur is not firing on all cylinders just yet. We are tempted with a play on Thompson and we certainly think this match goes to four sets as a minimum.
