THE PREDICTION

28-year-old Pedro Cachin broke the top 50 on tour for the first time last week after claiming his maiden ATP tour title at the Gstaad Open, where he beat Albert Ramos-Vinolas from a set down. The Argentine received a bye to the round of 16 here in Kitzbuhel as the third seed but that may only serve to hand Ramos-Vinolas a run-up at revenge after a straight-sets victory over Juan Pablo Varillas on Monday. The 35-year-old owns four ATP 250 titles on his favoured clay and both players should be considered serious contenders for the title this week in a reasonably underpowered draw. Ramos-Vinolas has endured a woeful season until very recently but recent results suggest he will be just as competitive in this second meeting in as many weeks. With a win already in his legs this week, and Cachin still looking for his first since a maiden title, back the experiemce3d Spaniard to earn at least a set as the likelier of two very capable victors.
