ADRIAN MANNARINO VS STAN WAWRINKA PREDICTION

A fascinating match-up lies in store on Wednesday as two veterans meet in Basel with Adrian Mannarino meets Stan Wawrinka with the two combined aged 75 years.

Incredibly, the pair have only met three times on the ATP Tour and Mannarino has won all three including one earlier this year at the Australian Open. Wawrinka was winning that match 2-1 but faded late on as Mannarino fought back to win in five. The previous two meetings took place in 2022 and then 2015.

It is actually Wawrinka who comes into this match in the better shape, even at the age of 39. The Swiss star reached the semi-finals in the Stockholm Open last week and beat Brandon Nakashima, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and then Andrey Rublev on the way. He eventually lost out to Tommy Paul but that run will give him a big confidence boost heading into this event in his homeland.

Mannarino continues to stay active with mixed success and he comes off playing in the Almaty Open last week. He beat Roman Safiullin but then lost to Aleksandar Vukic.

While Mannarino has dominated the head-to-head, we have a marginal preference for Wawrinka here. He will be highly motivated on home soil and his form is decent.
