THE PREDICTION

World number 26 Daria Kasatkina ousted impressive Spaniard Nuria Parrizas-Diaz in straight sets on Friday to set-up this enticing tie with Amanda Anisimova. 24-year-old Kasatkina is on the long road back top her career-high WTA world ranking of 10th from 2018 where she won the first two of her total four WTA titles, with two more won last season including in Melbourne last February. World number 78 Anisimova is also targeting a return to the heights she reached in 2019 where she won her only title to date at the Bogota Open on clay. The 20-year-old came back from a set down to beat in-form Irina-Camelia Begu on Friday and she was the winner of her only previous meeting with Kasatkina in straight sets back in 2020. Anisimova is the more powerful of the two but Kasatkina the more consistent and that makes taking the Russian to win at least a set here the more sensible call between two very capable winners.
