THE LOWDOWN
World number three drew the short straw on her WTA Finals singles debut by facing red-hot Anett Kontaveit in her first round robin. The 25-year-old lost to Kontaveit in straight sets in what may be a theme this week in Guadalajara, with her form curtailing somewhat since an odd injury sustained at the US Open, but she won her first match in the doubles alongside Katerina Siniakova as the top seeds. THE PREDICTION
There could be some bad blood left over in this fourth meeting between Barbora Krejcikova and Garbine Muguruza after the Spaniard was left fuming over her defeat to the Czech in the round of 16 at the US Open. Krejcikova appeared to sustain an abdominal injury late in that match but Muguruza found her actions, including slowing the play right down between shots, to be unprofessional with words exchanged at the net.
