THE PREDICTION

In-form Aussie James Duckworth will return to his career-high ATP world ranking of 51st no matter the outcome of this second round match after a superb victory over Roberto Bautista Agut. The 29-year-old can add the world number 20 to his season’s best victories after also defeating then world number 13 David Goffin in Miami and then number 15 Jannik Sinner at the Canadian Open. World number 67 Lorenzo Musetti will be buzzing too after making the first round as a lucky loser to then beat Laslo Djere at the fourth time of asking. The 19-year-old has a huge future but he has certainly played out a season of two halves after almost beating Novak Djokovic at Roland-Garros this June.

This looks a difficult match to call with any conviction with Lorenzo Musetti the better player but in poor form and James Duckworth enjoying his best season on tour and probably the best form of his career this Autumn. The Aussie should have what it takes to earn at least a set here and that looks the only reasonable pick to take from this head-scratcher with Musetti potentially on the up after his comeback win yesterday. Take Duckworth to win at least a set as the likeliest of two capable winners but leave this well clear of an accumulator.
