THE PREDICTION
19-year-old Iga Swiatek is on cloud nine after reaching the quarter-finals at the French Open on just her second appearance at Roland-Garros and the manner in which she dominated number one seed Simona Halep in the last round has sent shockwaves through the women’s game. She now takes on another shock quarter-finalist in the form of Martina Trevisan, whose own run cannot be underestimated. After coming through three rounds of qualifying, the world number 159 has seen off the likes of Coco Gauff and Kiki Bertens and she has played some exceptional tennis to get to this stage. Many onlookers have installed Swiatek as favourite following her win over Halep and that will of course bring its own pressure, but she appears as if she is built for success and has the necessary weapons in her arsenal to prevail here. It may go to a decider, but the young Pole is tipped to continue her dream run in Paris.
