THE PREDICTION

Harlequins enjoyed a good campaign during the regular Premiership season but their late surge in form and subsequent defeats of Bristol Bears and then the reigning champions Exeter Chiefs to win the Play-Off Final was extraordinary. Quins needed extra time against the Bears and then two-late tries in the final at Twickenham to claim the famous win but they will need to start faster and harder this season if they are to retain it. The return of Saracens makes the quest to reach the top four even harder for all Premiership sides but with relegation on ice once again this year there is no pressure at the foot of the table. Hosts Newcastle Falcons ended up comfortably enough away from where a relegation zone might have been but they will be keen to start this season in the same rich form they began their return to the top flight last season, and not how they ended it. Quins have a new coach in Tabai Matson with evolution on the mind. Take the away side to cover a cautious -4 here on the opening weekend.
