THE PREDICTION

London Irish earned their draw at Sale Sharks last Friday in an eight-try thriller that saw both sides in touching distance throughout. The Exiles have lost just one of their last five Premiership games, with their last two wins at home against Exeter and Saracens vastly impressive fare from a side on the up and up. After last season it would have been madness to suggest that Irish would be in contention for the play-offs, let alone a bye this campaign but they can extend those chances in this winnable fixture at home to struggling Worcester Warriors. Warriors’ head coach Steve Diamond lamented missed opportunities in their 21-29 defeat at home to Harlequins last Friday but with just one win from their last six this looks like a probable high-scoring game that goes in the hosts favour. Take London Irish to cover -8 here.
