THE PREDICTION

Gloucester are decidedly mid-table after five games played of the new Premiership season with two wins, two defeats and most recently a tight 25-25 draw at London Irish last Saturday. They will be disappointed not to take more points from that encounter after producing an excellent fightback in the second half that they let slip and this is no gimme at home to Newcastle Falcons now. The visitors have already won on the road this season at Bath last month and home wins over Wasps and struggling Bristol Bears sees them in an excellent position, losing only to reigning champions Harlequins and champions-elect Saracens so far. Both sides have impressed in places this season and taking the hosts to win outright looks a suitably cautious way to go here. It would not be a surprise to see Newcastle take this very close indeed.
