THE PREDICTION

Newcastle Falcons provided the shock of the weekend when they beat Bath away from home to open their account in their return to the Premiership. That result was certainly not in the script and they will be buoyant as they host their first match of the new season on a cold Friday evening. The Falcons have the opportunity to go top before any other team but so do their opponents Sale, who outscored a competitive Northampton Saints side to go joint-third with a bonus-point victory. This should be an exciting battle between a so far enigmatic Newcastle outfit and the Sharks who made it their business to outscore what they concede last season. Therefore, this match going over 40 points seems a reasonably safe option in the markets as the new season gets underway with this result looking closer than it may appear.
