THE PREDICTION

Newcastle Falcons beat Bath 12-19 away from home on the opening day of the new Premiership season back in November to spring an early surprise in what has turned out to be a season full of upsets and Bath have struggled throughout since. They may not have expected to fare well in their home match against Exeter last Saturday, which they lost 16-38 to break a run of three wins in the league, but elsewhere they have faltered to end up in 10th place coming into this weekend’s fixtures. The Falcons’ impressive start to the season has curtailed a little but they look good for a mid-table finish and have been an entertaining member of the division, capable of beating anybody. At home, and with Bath’s latest defeat leaving a sour taste, the hosts could be picked to just edge a match that comes under 40 points here. The Falcons lost at in-form Sale Sharks last weekend but they have only lost to Exeter in the league at home all season.
