THE PREDICTION

London Irish were hit by a coronavirus outbreak last weekend and handed a default win to their scheduled opponents Bath. If they can recover in time to host Northampton Saints they will do so off the back of a two-match winning streak in Europe, where they defeated the Top 14’s worst side Agen and a plucky Pau outfit in the Challenge Cup to top that table. Northampton did not fare so well in their opening fixtures of the Champions Cup but lost to two big sides in Leinster and Bordeaux. They did, however, win their first match of the new season last time out against struggling Worcester and that confidence could shine through here. Dan Biggar was instrumental in that first win and the fact that Irish are recovering from a covid-19 outbreak suggests they may have lost some momentum from their European exploits. It looks a close one here but the visitors can cover -2 in a much-needed victory.
