THE PREDICTION
Newcastle Falcons became the latest side to fall foul of a quickly improving London Irish side in the Premiership with a 43-21 defeat last Saturday. They occupy a comfortable enough mid-table position in the league for now and they are unbeaten in four at home, since an opening day defeat to Quins, that should serve them well in this Challenge Cup opener on Friday night. Worcester Warriors drew 24-24 here late last month in the Premiership and their 32-31 victory at home to Wasps last week saw them rise above three struggling sides who were play-off teams last season in Bristol, Sale and Bath. This looks like coming close once again and actually giving the visitors a hefty head-start of +5 or +6 could prove valuable given their recent form. However, taking the Falcons to win outright seems a suitably cautious pick here.
