AUSTRALIA FORM: MAJOR REBUILD REQUIRED FOR THE WALLABIES

Similar to a number of other international teams, the Wallabies have a new coach at the helm as they have gone with Joe Schmidt as the man to rebuild after an abysmal spell including a poor World Cup performance that saw them fail to get out of their pool. Schmidt has enjoyed an incredibly successful career, and while he is not exactly ripping things up, he will gradually implement his style ahead of hosting the British Lions tour next year and the next World Cup in 2025.

LAST FIVE: WLLWL

WALES FORM: GATLAND DESPERATE TO HALT ALARMING RUN

Warren Gatland must wonder what he let himself in for after returning as head coach of Wales. They have lost their last seven internationals including every match in the 2024 Six Nations. There is some serious work to be done but it is hard to see any immediate fix.

AUSTRALIA VS WALES PREDICTION

Both of these sides are going through major transition after slumping to some of their worst form for years. Australia will be hoping the appointment of Joe Schmidt will signal an improvement but that will take time. The same could be said for Wales and Warren Gatland who is going to need time to turn this sinking Welsh ship around. Wales have one advantage and that is they have played a Six Nations campaign recently. Australia have not played since the disastrous World Cup campaign. They have home advantage on their side which counts a lot in these internationals and Schmidt will have them fired up in front of their home fans. Our marginal preference is for the Wallabies but approach this one with caution given all the uncertainty surrounding both teams.
