THE TEAM NEWS

WAKEFIELD TRINITY

  • Wakefield Trinity played well in large spells of their Challenge Cup quarter-final with Wigan Warriors last week and despite ultimately being outclassed, they showed enough to suggest that they can bounce straight back.
  • Trinity have won their last three Super League matches in succession so they will come into this with plenty of belief despite last week’s loss, although Jacob Miller will be missing once again but Tom Johnstone could return on the wing having sat out against the Warriors.

21-man squad: 1 Max Jowitt, 2 Tom Johnstone, 4 Reece Lyne, 7 Mason Lino, 8 Eddie Battye, 9 Liam Hood, 10 Tinirau Arona, 11 Matty Ashurst, 12 Kelepi Tanginoa, 13 Jay Pitts, 14 Jordan Crowther, 15 Jai Whitbread, 17 Lee Gaskell, 19 Liam Kay, 21 Brad Walker, 22 Yusuf Aydin, 23 Sadiq Adebiyi, 24 Harry Bowes, 27 Lewis Murphy, 30 Corey Hall, 35 David Fifita

Unavailable: Bill Tupou, Lee Kershaw, Tom Lineham, Thomas Minns, Jacob Miller, James Batchelor

Questionable: Tom Johnstone

CASTLEFORD TIGERS

  • After back-to-back wins, Castleford Tigers were unable to make it three straight wins as they crashed out the Challenge Cup with an extremely disappointing display against Hull KR last week.
  • All focus will now turn to Super League action with the Tigers winning just two of their seven games so far this season and in their quest to respond to last week’s frustrating effort, they will have to deal with the loss of Jordan Turner and Bureta Faraimo with both suffering injuries.

21-man squad: 1 Niall Evalds, 2 Derrell Olpherts, 4 Jake Mamo, 6 Jake Trueman, 8 Liam Watts, 9 Paul McShane, 11 Kenny Edwards, 12 Adam Milner, 13 Joe Westerman, 14 Nathan Massey, 15 George Griffin, 17 Mahe Fonua, 19 Tyla Hepi, 20 James Clare, 21 Alex Sutcliffe, 22, Daniel Smith, 23 Greg Eden, 25 Suaia Matagi, 29 Sam Hall, 31 Gareth O’Brien, 34 Jack Sadler

THE PREDICTION

Wakefield Trinity have performed impressively since their slow start to the season and will look to make it four successive Super League victories as they take on local rivals Castleford Tigers. They performed well in defeat to Wigan Warriors in last week’s Challenge Cup defeat and with the Tigers struggling, an immediate return to winning ways could be on the cards for the hosts. Cas were nowhere near good enough in their loss to Hull KR last week and they look like they have it all to do to add to their two league wins so far this season. Either side could prevail here but preference has to be for Trinity based on how they’ve played of late.
