THE TEAM NEWS

HULL KR

  • Hull KR made it back-to-back losses to begin the new season as they went down to Huddersfield Giants last week and their poor first half display will have been of particular concern to head coach Tony Smith.
  • Rovers found themselves 16-0 down at the break and while they responded in the second half, the damage had already been done and in their efforts to get off the mark this campaign, they will need to deal with the absence of Lachlan Coote once again.

21-man squad: 3 Brad Takairangi, 4 Shaun Kenny-Dowall, 5 Ryan Hall, 7 Jordan Abdull, 9 Matt Parcell, 10 George King, 11 Dean Hadley, 12 Kane Linnett, 13 Matty Storton, 14 Jez Litten, 16 Korbin Sims, 17 Elliot Minchella, 19 Will Dagger, 20 Mikey Lewis, 23 Ethan Ryan, 24 Sam Wood, 25 Greg Richards, 26 Tom Garratt, 27 Frankie Halton, 28 Will Tate, 29 Phoenix Laulu-Togaga’e

CASTLEFORD TIGERS

  • Castleford Tigers lost for the second game in succession under new head coach Lee Radford as they produced an underwhelming effort on the road at Warrington Wolves last week.
  • The Tigers were poor on both sides of the ball in the 34-10 loss and with their list of unavailable players increasing with Jake Mamo and Kenny Edwards suffering injuries along with George Lawler’s ban, the away side have it all to do to find a way to get off the mark in 2022.

21-man squad: 1 Niall Evalds, 2 Derrell Olpherts, 3 Jordan Turner, 5 Bureta Faraimo, 6 Jake Trueman, 8 Liam Watts, 9 Paul McShane, 13 Joe Westerman, 14 Nathan Massey, 15 George Griffin, 17 Mahe Fonua, 19 Tyla Hepi, 21 Alex Sutcliffe, 22 Daniel Smith, 23 Greg Eden, 24 Cheyse Blair, 25 Suaia Matagi, 28 Brad Martin, 29 Sam Hall, 31 Gareth O’Brien, 32 Cain Robb

THE PREDICTION

Two winless teams meet in this televised clash as Hull KR host Castleford Tigers. Rovers were outplayed by Huddersfield Giants last week while the Tigers found it tough going against Warrington Wolves in what was another extremely poor showing. Both teams have big improvements to make but for the Tigers in particular, they will need to show a lot more on both sides of the ball and home advantage could prove to be pivotal in this one with Rovers able to do enough to claim their maiden win of the campaign.
