THE TEAM NEWS

CATALANS DRAGONS

  • Catalans Dragons did a good job of defeating Wakefield Trinity in their opening game of the campaign with Tom Johnstone’s hat-trick on debut against his former side proving to be the difference.
  • It was an impressive outing owing to the French side’s injury list with Mitchell Pearce and Sio Siua Taukeiaho among those set to be sidelined once again but Sam Tomkins could return from injury in what would be a big boost.

21-man squad: Mourgue, Davies, Keighran, Laguerre, McIlorum, Bousquet, Whitley, Seguier, Garcia, Goudemand, Navarrete, Rouge, Chan, Romano, Dezaria, Johnstone, Scimone, Tison, Tomkins, Castano, Zenon

Unavailable: Fouad Yaha (Injured), Tyrone May (Injured), Mike McMeeken (Injured), Mitchell Pearce (Injured), Sio Siua Taukeiaho (Injured), Manu Ma’u (Injured)

Questionable: Sam Tomkins

LEIGH LEOPARDS

  • Leigh Leopards were underwhelming on their return to the Super League as they struggled with the ball in their clash with Salford Red Devils.
  • The Leopards will need to be much better here as they take on Catalans Dragons but head coach Adrian Lam will not hit the panic button in terms of changing personnel and has named an unchanged 21-man squad.

21-man squad: Hardaker, Briscoe, Chamberlain, Leutele, Charnley, Lam, Amone, Ipape, Mulhern, Wardle, Hughes, Asiata, Nakubuwai, Reynolds, Holmes, O’Brien, Davis, Smith, Gannon, O’Donnell, Seumanufagai

Unavailable: Joe Mellor (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Catalans Dragons started the new campaign with a win as they overcame Wakefield Trinity last week and they will be confident of building on that on home soil as they host Leigh Leopards. After a huge pre-match show, Leigh failed to live up to the hype on the pitch as they suffered a meek loss to Salford Red Devils without really asking them many questions. It may take time for this squad to gel but Catalans will be in no mood to hand them any favours and with Sam Tomkins potentially back in the side, it would be no real surprise to see the home side win by 13+ points.
