THE TEAM NEWS

HUDDERSFIELD GIANTS

  • Huddersfield Giants’ woes continued as they suffered a fifth successive loss with Wigan Warriors the latest side to get the better of them and they could ensure further misery here as they face the same opponents.
  • The Giants remain without a plethora of players and they have only named a 17-man squad this week, although there is hope that they will be able to make further additions before the game.

17-man squad: Cudjoe, Gavet, Golding, Hewitt, Jones, McGillvary, McGowan, McQueen, Peats, Peteru, Pryce, Rogers, Russell, Stevens, Ja. Wardle, Wood, Yates

Unavailable: Joe Wardle, Adam O’Brien, Michael Lawrence, Jack Cogger, Aidan Sezer, Matty English, James Cunningham, Darnell McIntosh, Lee Gaskell, Kenny Edwards, Oliver Wilson, Olly Ashall-Bott, Ricky Leutele, Joe Greenwood, Louis Senior

WIGAN WARRIORS

  • Wigan Warriors put their disappointing run of form behind them by edging Huddersfield Giants last week and they will hope that proves to be the turning point in their season after ending a run of five straight losses.
  • The Warriors were far from brilliant once again but they at least showed plenty of character to fight back from going 0-12 down before scoring 16 unanswered points to claim the win, although they will be without key man Jackson Hastings for this clash after he picked up a ban.

20-man squad: Bibby, Bullock, Byrne, Clark, Clubb, Farrell, Gildart, Halsall, Hanley, Havard, Leuluai, Marshall, McDonnell, O’Neill, Partington, Pearce-Paul, Powell, Shorrocks, Singleton, Smith

Unavailable: Jai Field, Bevan French, Zak Hardaker, Dom Manfredi, John Bateman, Morgan Smithies, Willie Isa, Jackson Hastings

THE PREDICTION

Huddersfield Giants and Wigan Warriors will do battle for the second week in succession and the away side will be hoping for a similar outcome. They ended their five-game losing streak with a hard-fought success while also making it five consecutive losses for the Giants. Both teams looked bereft of confidence but the Warriors will believe they can build on that success and they should be able to do so, even with the absence of Jackson Hastings. However, another low-scoring contest is likely here with so much talent missing for both sides and there should be no more than 44 points scored in this one.
