THE TEAM NEWS

WESTS TIGERS

  • Wests Tigers are now heavy favourites to finish at the bottom of the NRL ladder and collect the wooden spoon after losing out to rivals St. George Illawarra Dragons last week.
  • That is now seven successive losses for Wests and while they get a few players back on deck here, including halfback Luke Brooks, they face a huge task to end their losing streak.

Starting 13: Bula, Nofoaluma, To’a, Tupou, Staines, Laurie, Brooks, Utoikamanu, Koroisau, Klemmer, Papali’i, Bateman, Pole – Interchanges: Smith, Blore, Twal, James – Reserves: Matuma, Kepaoa, Simpkin, Talau, Da Silva

Unavailable: Adam Doueihi (Injured)

SOUTH SYDNEY RABBITOHS

  • South Sydney Rabbitohs were beaten for the fourth time in five matches as they fell out of the top eight and the pressure is mounting after a poor showing against Brisbane Broncos.
  • The Bunnies blew a half-time lead in that contest as they failed to live with their opponents in the second half but in what is a huge in, Latrell Mitchell looks set to finally return from injury.

Starting 13: L. Mitchell, Johnston, Tass, Graham, Milne, Walker, Ilias, Arrow, Cook, Sele, Koloamatangi, Host, Murray – Interchanges: Moale, Havili, Cartwright, Burgess – Reserves: Taaffe, S. Mitchell, Duncan, Mamouzelos, Hawkins

Unavailable: Tevita Tatola (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Wests Tigers’ wretched season continued as they were beaten for the seventh game in succession and they are staring down the barrel at the wooden spoon. They now take on a South Sydney Rabbitohs outfit that will be desperate to get back to winning ways after a poor run of form that has seen them fall out of the top eight. They were hopeful of having Latrell Mitchell back in the side last week but he was a late withdrawal, although he does look set to return for this encounter which would be a huge boost. The Rabbits are a superior side in every department and while their defence has been struggling of late, this is the perfect chance to earn a much-needed success.
