THE TEAM NEWS

WESTS TIGERS

  • Wests Tigers were really poor as they went down to defeat in their clash with Gold Coast Titans last week and they will need to be much better if they are to avoid a third straight loss.
  • Wests struggled on both sides of the ball in that game and suffered a couple of injury blows with Luke Brooks and Api Koroisau set to be sidelined for a decent period while Stefano Utoikamanu has received an Origin call-up.

Starting 13: Bula, Nofoaluma, Naden, Kepaoa, Tupou, To’a, Wakeham, Pole, Simpkin, Klemmer, Papali’i, Blore, Bateman – Interchanges: Da Silva, Talua, Twal, Seyfarth – Reserves: Smith, Matamua, James, Mansfield, Reilly

Unavailable: Adam Doueihi (Injured), Charlie Staines (Injured), Luke Brooks (Injured), Api Koroisau (Injured), Stefano Utoikamanu (Origin)

MELBOURNE STORM

  • After suffering a big loss on the road to North Queensland Cowboys, Melbourne Storm responded in the best possible way as they produced a stunning performance to dish out a hammering in their clash with Cronulla Sharks.
  • The Storm ran in 54 points in the contest with their top four rivals but this will be a very different side that takes to the field here with Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Xavier Coates all away with Queensland for Origin duty while Christian Welch has copped a ban.

Starting 13: Meaney, Warbrick, Smith, Seve, Jennings, Pezet, Hughes, Kamikamica, Garlick, Asofa-Solomona, Loiero, Sims, King – Interchanges: Wishart, Eisenhuth, MacDonald, Pene – Reserves: Olam, Anderson, Faalogo, Lewis, Bradley

Unavailable: Dean Ieremia (Injured), Ryan Papenhuyzen (Injured), Justin Olam (Injured), Eliesa Katoa (Injured), Christian Welch (Suspended), Cameron Munster (Origin), Harry Grant (Origin), Xavier Coates (Origin)

THE PREDICTION

Wests Tigers made it back-to-back losses as they went down in meek fashion against Gold Coast Titans last week. It was an alarming effort after a recent upturn in performances but it could well be that it was just a purple patch and they are reverting to type. They get to take on an under-strength Melbourne Storm outfit here but the away side will be on such a high after their impressive display against Cronulla Sharks that it is hard to envisage anything other than a Storm victory in this one. Melbourne have won the past five matchups between the two teams and have to be favoured once again.
