THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

  • Sydney Roosters avoided a fourth straight defeat but their one-point success over Canterbury Bulldogs did nothing to suggest that they have turned the corner.
  • It has been an underwhelming season for the Tricolours with the experiment to play Joey Manu at five-eighth not really working and they cannot revert him back to the centres this week after Joseph Suaalii copped a three-game ban.

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Allan, Bi. Smith, Pauga, Manu, Keary, Waerea-Hagreaves, Turpin, Collins, E. Butcher, N. Butcher, Tupouniua – Interchanges: S. Smith, Brown, Crichton, Lodge – Reserves: Hutchison, Dockar-Clay

Unavailable: Connor Watson (Injured), Paul Momirovski (Injured), Sam Walker (Injured), Brandon Smith (Injured), Victor Radley (Suspended), Joseph Suaalii (Suspended)

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Penrith Panthers were given a scare by St. George Illawarra Dragons last week and despite getting the job done in the final 10 minutes, that victory came at a cost.
  • The Panthers recorded a fourth successive victory with that success but key man Nathan Cleary suffered a hamstring injury in that encounter and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Starting 13: Edwards, Turuva, Tago, Crichton, To’o, Luai, Cogger, Leota, Kenny, Fisher-Harris, Sorensen, Hosking, Yeo – Interchanges: Martin, L. Smith, Leniu, Salmon – Reserves: Garner, Luke

Unavailable: Taylan May (Injured), Nathan Cleary (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters have a score to settle after they were hammered by Penrith Panthers in round 11 but there are huge doubts surrounding their ability to dish out some revenge. The Roosters have won just one of their last four games and have some important players sidelined. The Panthers have lost their most influential player in the shape of Nathan Cleary and while that will be a huge setback, the Panthers have enough quality throughout the rest of their side to make it five victories in-a-row as well as eight consecutive wins over the Roosters.
