THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY ROOSTERS

  • Sydney Roosters underwhelmed in their matchup with Brisbane Broncos last week but despite being kept scoreless in the first half, they responded well to clinch the win and make it back-to-back victories.
  • The Roosters are yet to hit top gear in the early stage of the season and will be desperate to improve on their recent efforts but having struggled through the middle last week, the return of Siosiua Taukeiaho will be a big boost while Sam Verrills will make his first appearance of the season.

Starting 13: Tedesco, Tupou, Momirovski, Manu, Naiqama, Walker, Keary, Waerea-Hargreaves, Verrills, Collins, N. Butcher, Tupouniua, Radley – Interchanges: Watson, Baker, Crichton, Taukeiaho – Reserves: Lam, Whyte, Keighran, Atoni, Suluka-Fifita, Suaalii, Hutchison

Unavailable: Egan Butcher, Billy Smith

NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS

  • New Zealand Warriors were dramatic winners in their clash with North Queensland Cowboys with Shaun Johnson kicking the decisive field goal in golden point to make it three straight wins for Nathan Brown’s side.
  • In a game in which the Warriors were dominated through the middle, they did an excellent job of claiming the win and will hold no fear here but they will be without winger Marcelo Montoya after he was handed a four-game ban.

Starting 13: Walsh, Watene-Zelezniak, Arthars, Pompey, Kosi, Harris-Tavita, Johnson, Fonua-Blake, Egan, Lodge, Aitken, Sironen, Curran – Interchanges: Nikorima, Afoa, Pene, Katoa – Reserves: Otukolo, Vailea, Petterson-Robati, Berry, Kepu, Ratuva, Kepu

Unavailable: Tohu Harris, Ash Taylor, Jazz Tevaga, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Marcelo Montoya, Jack Murchie

THE PREDICTION

Sydney Roosters made it back-to-back wins thanks to getting the better of Brisbane Broncos last week but they did so in extremely unconvincing fashion with some of their key men digging them out of a hole in the second half. They will have to be wary here against an in-form New Zealand Warriors outfit that come into this on the back of a thrilling golden point success against North Queensland Cowboys last week which made it three straight victories. The Warriors were gutsy to prevail in that encounter but will need to improve to keep their winning streak intact and having succumbed to the Roosters in their past four matchups, the home side are favoured to come out on top.
