THE TEAM NEWS

ST. GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS

  • St. George Illawarra Dragons suffered a fourth loss in their last five outings as they were on the end of another big defeat last week, going down to rivals Cronulla Sharks.
  • They shipped 52 points in that contest and have now conceded 100 points in their last two outings but things could get even worse here with Ben Hunt on Origin duty while Tyrell Sloan is out through injury so Paul Turner comes into the side at fullback.

Starting 13: Turner, Mat. Feagai, Suli, Lomax, Ravalawa, Amone, Sullivan, F. Molo, Liddle, Lawrie, Murdoch-Masila, Su’a, De Belin – Interchanges: Mbye, M. Molo, T. Couchman, Russell – Reserves: Finau, R. Couchman, Musgrove, Max Feagai, Burns

Unavailable: Cody Ramsey (Illness), Tyrell Fuimaono (Injured), Jack Bird (Injured), Tyrell Sloan (Injured), Jaiyden Hunt (Injured), Tautau Moga (Injured), Ben Hunt (Origin)

CANBERRA RAIDERS

  • Canberra Raiders earned an important win over Gold Coast Titans to make it four wins from their last five games and they are now within touching distance of the top four.
  • In what is a congested ladder, the Raiders are also in the mix for top spot with just two points separating the top five teams but in their quest to improve on their recent record, they will have to make do without the services of Corey Horsburgh who will debut for Queensland next week.

Starting 13: Kris, Hopoate, Croker, Timoko, Rapana, Wighton, Fogarty, Guler, Woolford, Tapine, Young, Whitehead, Mariota – Interchanges: Starling, Mooney, Cotric, Hola – Reserves: Frawley, Levi, Puru, Savage, Webb

Unavailable: Adrian Trevilyan (Injured), Corey Harawira-Naera (Injured), Harley Smith-Shields (Injured), Josh Papali’i (Injured), Pasami Saulo (Injured), Corey Horsburgh (Origin)

THE PREDICTION

St. George Illawarra Dragons appear to have given up on this season and their only challenge this year will be to avoid the wooden spoon. They have performed poorly for a long period but their recent efforts have been well below the standard required and leave a lot to be desired. With in-form Canberra Raiders arriving for this matchup with four wins to their name in their last five, it is hard to see anything other than a win for the away side and they can cover the -11.5 handicap in the process.
