THE TEAM NEWS

PENRITH PANTHERS

  • Penrith Panthers were left stunned by a late fightback by South Sydney Rabbitohs as they failed to cling on to the lead in their high-quality contest.
  • It was another example of how the Panthers are not quite hitting the heights of the past couple of seasons and they must now deal with another injury blow having lost Izack Tago to a pectoral issue.

Starting 13: Edwards, Turuva, Peachey, Crichton, To’o, Luai, Cleary, Leota, Kenny, Eisenhuth, Sorensen, Hosking, Yeo – Interchanges: Luke, L. Smith, Leniu, Salmon – Reserves: Garner, Jenkins, C. Smith, Cogger, Henry

Unavailable: Taylan May (Injured), Liam Martin (Injured), James Fisher-Harris (Injured), Izack Tago (Injured)

WESTS TIGERS

  • Wests Tigers blew the chance to claim their maiden win of the campaign as they fell to defeat against Manly Sea Eagles last week with plenty of similarities to how they have played for much of the season.
  • The Tigers had little problem getting up the field but struggled in the opposition 20 once again but Tim Sheens is sticking with his halfback pairing for now while David Nofoaluma comes into the side on the wing in place of the injured Charlie Staines.

Starting 13: Bula, Nofoaluma, To’a, Naden, Tupou, Wakeham, Brooks, Utoikamanu, Koroisau, Klemmer, Papali’i, Bateman, Pole – Interchanges: Simpkin, Ofahengaue, Twal, Talau – Reserves: Matamua, Seyfarth, Blore, Laurie, Reilly

Unavailable: Adam Doueihi (Injured), Charlie Staines (Injured), Asu Kepaoa (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Penrith Panthers were unable to make it four successive victories as they allowed South Sydney Rabbitohs to defeat them late on in their exhilarating contest last week. They will be desperate to bounce back here and are handed the perfect chance to do so as they take on winless Wests Tigers. The visitors have gone close on a few occasions so far this campaign but are lacking quality when it counts. That will be a real issue here with the Panthers coming into this with a point to prove and it is hard to envisage anything other than a big win for the hosts who can cover the -19.5 handicap.
