CANBERRA RAIDERS

  • Canberra Raiders underwhelmed for large parts of 2023 but managed to sneak into the play-offs before going down to the team they will face to begin this new term.
  • They will be out for revenge for that loss to the Knights but their roster does not look as strong this season having lost Jack Wighton and youngster Ethan Strange has been given first crack at filling his void in the halves.

Starting 13: 1. Jordan Rapana 2. Nick Cotric 3. Matthew Timoko 4. Albert Hopoate 5. Xavier Savage 6. Ethan Strange 7. Jamal Fogarty 8. Josh Papali'i 9. Danny Levi 10. Joseph Tapine 11. THE PREDICTION

Newcastle Knights showed a heap of potential to finish last year and will hope they have laid the foundations for a successful couple of years. It is unlikely to result in a Premiership but they will believe they can be competitive and they will be desperate to get off to a strong start here as they host Canberra Raiders. Consistency was a real issue for the away side last season and with some big question marks surrounding the quality of their roster, they look set to fall short in this opening contest.
