THE TEAM NEWS

MELBOURNE STORM

  • Melbourne Storm suffered their first loss of the season as they were beaten in a golden point thriller against Parramatta Eels last week but they will be confident of making an immediate return to winning ways in this one.
  • The Storm looked to have the momentum after levelling late on in the contest but were beaten by a freak play and in their quest to respond, they will be boosted by the return of winger Xavier Coates and hooker Harry Grant.

Starting 13: Papenhuyzen, Ieremia, R. Smith, Olam, Coates, Munster, Hughes, J. Bromwich, H. Grant, Asofa-Solomona, Kaufusi, K. Bromwich, King – Interchanges: B. Smith, MacDonald, Loiero, Moeroa – Reserves: Lewis, Meaney, Nikorima, Warbrick, Seve, Wishart, Faalogo

Unavailable: Tom Eisenhuth, Cooper Johns, Tui Kamikamica, Christian Welch, George Jennings

CANTERBURY BULLDOGS

  • Canterbury Bulldogs fell short in their quest to upset the odds against Manly Sea Eagles but it was a battling effort from Trent Barrett’s side and they will take plenty from it, despite suffering a heart-breaking late defeat.
  • Daly Cherry-Evans’ field goal was the only thing to separate the two teams and they face another tough challenge here but they will have to make do without Jack Hetherington after the forward was ruled out for the year with a shoulder injury.

Starting 13: Dufty, Burns, Schoupp, Naden, Addo-Carr, Burton, Wakeham, Thompson, Marshall-King, Vaughan, Waddell, Pangai Jnr., Jackson – Interchanges: Biondi-Odo, Patolo, King, Seumanufagai – Reserves: Hoffman, Averillo, Stimson, Flanagan, Okunbor, Cook, Topine

Unavailable: Matt Doorey, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Paul Alamoti, Jack Hetherington

THE PREDICTION

Melbourne Storm were unable to maintain their unbeaten start to the season as they fell short in their game with Parramatta Eels last week. The Storm were forced into golden point for the second week in succession but could not come out on top and will be eager to respond here as they host Canterbury Bulldogs. The visitors made it back-to-back losses as they went down to Manly Sea Eagles in an extremely narrow loss last week and while they have not performed too badly to begin this campaign, they have not yet managed to score more than 12 points in any of their three games and their lack of attacking quality is likely to see them fall short here with the Storm able to win by 13+ points.
