THE TEAM NEWS

GOLD COAST TITANS

  • Gold Coast Titans prevailed in their clash with North Queensland Cowboys last week to make it two wins in their last three outings but they face a tall order to improve on that record.
  • They have lost star man AJ Brimson as well as five-eighth Kieran Foran so Chris Randall and Sam Verrills will form a makeshift pairing in the halves for this contest.

Starting 13: 1. Keano Kini 2. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 3. Brian Kelly 4. Aaron Schoupp 5. Jojo Fifita 6. Chris Randall 7. Sam Verrills 8. Moeaki Fotuaika 9. Erin Clark 10. Jaimin Jolliffe 11. David Fifita 12. Beau Fermor 13. Klese Haas Bench: 14. Keenan Palasia 15. Isaac Liu 16. Josiah Pahulu 17. Joe Stimson Reserves: 18. Thomas Weaver 19. Tony Francis 20. Jacob Alick-wiencke 21. Iszac Fa'asumaleaui 22. Jaylan De Groot

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

  • Newcastle Knights secured a third successive victory as they overcame Wests Tigers last week and there is still plenty of room for improvement in their performance levels.
  • The Knights have at least looked solid defensively of late but they have been forced into a couple of changes here with Tyson Gamble suffering a foot injury while Daniel Saifiti is banned.

Starting 13: 1. David Armstrong 2. Enari Tuala 3. Dane Gagai 4. Bradman Best 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Jack Cogger 7. Jackson Hastings 8. Jacob Saifiti 9. Jayden Brailey 10. Leo Thompson 11. Tyson Frizell 12. Dylan Lucas 13. Adam Elliott Bench: 14. Phoenix Crossland 15. Kai Pearce-Paul 16. Brodie Jones 17. Jack Hetherington Reserves: 18. Mathew Croker 19. Jed Cartwright 20. Krystian Mapapalangi 21. Thomas Cant 22. Fletcher Sharpe

THE PREDICTION

Gold Coast Titans look to have turned a corner with their recent efforts but face an uphill task to make it back-to-back successes having suffered some significant injury blows. AJ Brimson has been in superb form of late but his absence, along with that of Kieran Foran, means they are lacking plenty of quality in the spine. With Newcastle Knights coming into this having won three-in-a-row, their in-form opponents will be tough to topple and it is tough to envisage the Titans having enough guile in the halves to end the Knights’ winning run.
