THE TEAM NEWS

CRONULLA SHARKS

  • Cronulla Sharks put their disappointing loss to the Dolphins behind them as they made an immediate return to winning ways by overcoming Manly Sea Eagles last week.
  • That success was their fourth in five matches and they are handed a boost here with Oregon Kaufusi back in the side after being a late withdrawal before the Manly game while Braden Hamlin-Uele is listed amongst the reserves and could make a quick return from injury.

Starting 13: Kennedy, Katoa, Ramien, Tracey, Mulitalo, Moylan, Hynes, Kaufusi, Brailey, Hunt, Nikora, Wilton, Finucane – Interchanges: Trindall, Williams, Graham, Hazelton – Reserves: Atkinson, Hiroti, Hamlin-Uele, Coloquhoun, Berrell

Unavailable: Kade Dykes (Injured), Toby Rudolf (Injured), Siosifa Talakai (Injured), Cameron McInnes (Injured)

NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS

  • Newcastle Knights took full of advantage of their bye week as they returned to action with a superb win over Gold Coast Titans to end a run of three straight losses.
  • Kalyn Ponga produced a timely reminder of his quality ahead of State of Origin as he ripped the Titans apart and it is little surprise that they will stick with the same 17 for this encounter.

Starting 13: Miller, Young, Gagai, Best, Marzhew, Ponga, Hastings, D. Saifiti, Crossland, Hetherington, Frizell, Fitzgibbon, Thompson – Interchanges: Gamble, J. Saifiti, Elliott, Croker – Reserves: Johns, Tuala, Clune, Hunt, Sasagi

Unavailable: Brodie Jones (Injured), Jayden Brailey (Injured), Kurt Mann (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Cronulla Sharks may still have a hint of inconsistency about them but they did a good job of making it four wins in their last five outings by overcoming Manly Sea Eagles. They are capable of defeating any side on their day and that will worry Newcastle Knights whose best effort may not even be good enough. They produced a great display to topple Gold Coast Titans last time out but this will be much tougher and the Sharks should make it four consecutive victories in matchups against the Knights.
