THE TEAM NEWS

CANBERRA RAIDERS

  • Canberra Raiders look like they are in for an inconsistent campaign having failed to make it back-to-back victories last week thanks to a disappointing performance in their loss to Manly Sea Eagles.
  • The Raiders were second best throughout and managed just a solitary try in that encounter with improvements certainly needed with the ball but despite their underwhelming effort last week, head coach Ricky Stuart has seen no reason to alter his 17 for this game.

Starting 13: Nicoll-Klokstad, Cotric, Timoko, Valemei, Rapana, Wighton, Schneider, Papalii, Starling, Tapine, Young, Harawira-Naera, Whitehead – Interchanges: Frawley, Guler, Elliott, Horsburgh – Reserves: Savage, Sutton, Schiller, Rushton, Croker, Mooney, Hola

Unavailable: Jamal Fogarty, Harley Smith-Shields, Josh Hodgson, Sebastian Kris

MELBOURNE STORM

  • Melbourne Storm produced a clinic as they made an immediate return to winning ways following their golden point loss to Parramatta Eels in their previous clash by nilling Canterbury Bulldogs in a hugely one-sided affair last week.
  • The Storm ran in eight unanswered tries in that dominant victory and have unsurprisingly opted to roll with the same 17 from that success as they attempt to make it five straight victories in clashes against Canberra Raiders.

Starting 13: Papenhuyzen, Meaney, R. Smith, Olam, Coates, Munster, Hughes, J. Bromwich, H. Grant, Asofa-Solomona, Kaufusi, K. Bromwich, King – Interchanges: B. Smith, MacDonald, Loiero, Moeroa – Reserves: Wishart, Lewis, Seve, Nikorima, J. Grant, Warbrick, Faalogo

Unavailable: Tom Eisenhuth, Tui Kamikamica, Christian Welch, George Jennings, Dean Ieremia

THE PREDICTION

Canberra Raiders will need to go up a few gears if they are to get back to winning ways as they take on Melbourne Storm in what looks like a very difficult matchup. The Raiders fell to 2-2 for the season with a loss to Manly Sea Eagles last week and now come up against a side that were brilliant in their last outing. The Storm ran out 44-0 winners against Canterbury Bulldogs and while this will be a tougher game for them, it is hard to see beyond them collecting another win which would make it five successive victories over the Raiders.
